Recount Text

A Recount Text retells past events or experiences in the order they happened.
a Recount Text consist of three main parts :
1. Orientation > This part introduces the scence.
2. Events > This part retells what happened
3. Reorientation > This part tells the writer's comment about the events that happened.

My Rush Time as a Jurnalist
I usually woke up at eight o'clock a.m. and went to the Press Center to check the daily schedule of briefings and press conferences. It was usually held by the United Nation officials or disaster mitigation team.
It was challenging to visit different refugee camps to find soft stories, human interest stories. After that I went back to the Press Center to cover the press conferences of the day.
It was heart breaking when I saw these survivors fight for food and secondhand clothing. Unfortunately as they said, the food and clothing were limited and inadequate. Emerging to glaring, fool noon, it was time to go back to Press Center to write stories and race against time. I was always fearing that the internet would come crushing down.
After everything was done, only then I remembered to eat. Most times, I only ate once a day because I always had to rush and again it was difficult to find food. I had to travel quite far. I needed to spend a 30 to 45 minutes by car just to find fresh food.it taken from Understanding Types of text

Bagi kita memberikan informasi kepada peserta didik khususnya kelas 9 SMP yang akan menghadapi Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris sangatlah penting agar peserta didik benar-benar siap menghadapi Ujian nanti dengan harapan peserta didik dapat mendapatkan nilai yang memuaskan dan mereka dapat melanjutkan ke sekolah yang di idam-idamkan. Bahasa memiliki peran sentral dalam perkembangan intelektual, sosial, dan emosional peserta didik dan merupakan penunjang keberhasilan dalam mempelajari semua bidang studi. Pembelajaran bahasa diharapkan membantu peserta didik mengenal dirinya, budayanya, dan budaya orang lain. Selain itu, pembelajaran bahasa juga membantu peserta didik mampu mengemukakan gagasan dan perasaan, berpartisipasi dalam masyarakat, dan bahkan menemukan serta menggunakan kemampuan analitis dan imaginatif yang ada dalam dirinya.

Bahasa Inggris merupakan alat untuk berkomunikasi secara lisan dan tulis. Berkomunikasi adalah memahami dan mengungkapkan informasi, pikiran, perasaan, dan mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan budaya. Kemampuan berkomunikasi dalam pengertian yang utuh adalah kemampuan berwacana, yakni kemampuan memahami dan/atau menghasilkan teks lisan dan/atau tulis yang direalisasikan dalam empat keterampilan berbahasa, yaitu mendengarkan, berbicara, membaca dan menulis. Keempat keterampilan inilah yang digunakan untuk menanggapi atau menciptakan wacana dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Oleh karena itu, mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris diarahkan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan-keterampilan tersebut agar lulusan mampu berkomunikasi dan berwacana dalam bahasa Inggris pada tingkat literasi tertentu.

Tingkat literasi mencakup performative, functional, informational, dan epistemic. Pada tingkat performative, orang mampu membaca, menulis, mendengarkan, dan berbicara dengan simbol-simbol yang digunakan. Pada tingkat functional, orang mampu menggunakan bahasa untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup sehari-hari seperti membaca surat kabar, manual atau petunjuk. Pada tingkat informational, orang mampu mengakses pengetahuan dengan kemampuan berbahasa, sedangkan pada tingkat epistemic orang mampu mengungkapkan pengetahuan ke dalam bahasa sasaran (Wells,1987).

Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMP/MTs ditargetkan agar peserta didik dapat mencapai tingkat functional yakni berkomunikasi secara lisan dan tulis untuk menyelesaikan masalah sehari-hari, sedangkan untuk SMA/MA diharapkan dapat mencapai tingkat informational karena mereka disiapkan untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya ke perguruan tinggi. Tingkat literasi epistemic dianggap terlalu tinggi untuk dapat dicapai oleh peserta didik SMA/MA karena bahasa Inggris di Indonesia berfungsi sebagai bahasa asing.

B. Tujuan
Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMP/MTs bertujuan agar peserta didik memiliki kemampuan sebagai berikut.
1. Mengembangkan kompetensi berkomunikasi dalam bentuk lisan dan tulis untuk mencapai tingkat literasi functional
2. Memiliki kesadaran tentang hakikat dan pentingnya bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan daya saing bangsa dalam masyarakat global
3. Mengembangkan pemahaman peserta didik tentang keterkaitan antara bahasa dengan budaya.

C. Ruang Lingkup
Ruang lingkup mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMP/MTs meliputi:
1. kemampuan berwacana, yakni kemampuan memahami dan/atau menghasilkan teks lisan dan/atau tulis yang direalisasikan dalam empat keterampilan berbahasa, yakni mendengarkan, berbicara, membaca dan menulis secara terpadu untuk mencapai tingkat literasi functional;
2. kemampuan memahami dan menciptakan berbagai teks fungsional pendek dan monolog serta esei berbentuk procedure, descriptive, recount, narrative, dan report. Gradasi bahan ajar tampak dalam penggunaan kosa kata, tata bahasa, dan langkah-langkah retorika;
3. kompetensi pendukung, yakni kompetensi linguistik (menggunakan tata bahasa dan kosa kata, tata bunyi, tata tulis), kompetensi sosiokultural (menggunakan ungkapan dan tindak bahasa secara berterima dalam berbagai konteks komunikasi), kompetensi strategi (mengatasi masalah yang timbul dalam proses komunikasi dengan berbagai cara agar komunikasi tetap berlangsung), dan kompetensi pembentuk wacana (menggunakan piranti pembentuk wacana).

Last Lebaran day, my family and I went hometown. We went there by train because I thought it was more comfortable going by train than going by bus. SAFARI PARK
Safari Park or Taman Safari is quite a unique zoo. It lies about 90 kilometers from Jakarta. It lies in Cisarua, Bogor, about two kilometers from Puncak.
This zoo reminds us of similar parks in Kenya, Africa. Although it is not as the one in Kenya, we can still enjoy the park which is about one hundred hectars. In conventional zoos, the animals are in cages, but in the Safari park visitors are in ‘cages’, they are not allowed to get off the cars or buses. The animals wander freely. Visitors who don’t have cars can use the touring buses available at the park.
Although the animals wander freely, there are grouped into certain blocks. The first is of wild animals, like tigers, and lions. The second block is for big animals like elephants, rhinoceros, nile horses, zebras, and giraffes. The next block is of primates, like orang utans, and gorillas.
Then we can see many kinds of sheep and deer. In the last block we can see bears, ostrichs and lhamas. Each animal roams freely in their blocks. The other blocks are like in conventional zoos; the animals are in cages. The animals that are in cages are like white tigers – a rare species from India – several kinds of monkeys, birds, and crocodiles. There are also some tame animals like monkey, bears, and baby tigers. Visitors can take pictures together with them.
This park is provided with a play ground. In this area visitors can enjoy a circus show, and souvenirs shops. They can also enjoy a small but beautiful waterfall.
Safari park is not only a recreational park but also a research park. The park has succeeded in developing some species especially the rare ones, like white tigers, giraffes and nile horses. Safari park is indeed a national asset.

• First of all, give every player a counter.
